Former British Prime Minister David Cameron Resigns from Parliament

While the former prime minister of Britain – David Cameron – had left his position as prime minister following the Brexit vote (as one of his campaign promises was to hold a Brexit referendum because he was confident Britain would not vote to leave), he also resigned from his position in Parliament on Monday. The New York Times shares that a special election will be held to fill Mr. Cameron’s now vacant seat.

Clinton to Release Health Records

During a visit to a 9/11 memorial on Sunday, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton stumbled while getting into a car after feeling dizzy, which indicated she seemed very ill. As reported on Monday, Ms. Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday (two days before the stumbling incident). The incident has fueled concerns from both sides of the aisle (even Obama strategist David Axelrod says her campaign has an “unhealthy penchant for privacy.”) In response, the nominee has announced plans to release health records.

Market Minute

For almost 40 trading days, the market traded within a 1% range. This is historically a small range. However, the narrow range evaporated on Friday, when the S&P fell over 2% on news that the Fed would likely raise interest rates in their meeting this month. In yesterday’s trading, markets rose on the relief that a Fed official believes the reasons to increase interest rates are not as strong as a few weeks ago (given weaker data that has come in). Markets like low interest rates, so the idea of keeping rates low sent the market to a rally in Monday trading.

SF 49er Colin Kaepernick Kneels Once More During National Anthem

For the second game in a row, the San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem. Colin has been kneeling as a sign of protest against inequality (especially related to the police shootings of the last few years). This time, one other teammate also knelt, and the team the 49ers played last night – the Rams – had two players raise their fists in protests. Colin has promised to kneel in future games.

Two Men Rush the “Dancing with the Stars” Stage to Attack US Olympian Swimmer Ryan Lochte

In the latest premiere of “Dancing with the Stars”, two men (both over 40 years old) rushed the stage wearing anti-Ryan Lochte t-shirts stormed the stage while the Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte performed. As ESPN reports, one protestor says the demonstration is to show that it is a “bad decision to have a liar be publicized as a star.” Of course, the men are referring to the incident in Brazil’s Olympic games this summer, when Ryan misrepresented the truth on what happened in a Brazilian gas station.

Both protestors have been arrested.
